Now that's my idea of spiritual food! Down here in Washington, you would think the work was under ban. Hook a brother up!

not your average movie in that car chases do not seem to exist, such as to be perceived anyways :-) though i wouldn't agree with some of the more "new age" viewpoints, it's a nice piece of mind candy, that quantum mechanics/metaphysics thing.
and a few interesting opinions on the nature of god,...... a day in the life,...... .

the ass hall is about 10 miles from here, and here is 3000 miles from my last congregation, so i figured what the hay, i'll step into the twilight zone, see what it's like after a few years away from it all.
i was bored to a teary-eyed yawn within 10 minutes of sitting (next a nwt-guarded reserved seat, ahh, memories.)..
i caught the last few minutes of the wt study and then came "giving attention to the needs of the circuit".

I caught the last few minutes of the WT study and then came "Giving Attention to the Needs of the Circuit". The CO started out with some praise for the circuit, so I was thinking the big hammer was going to drop any time, but... book study attendance is 81%...internet is bad...people online are out to deceive single JWs...pornography is not harmless....blah, blah, blah. Same crap, different year. This is one experiment I'll not be tempted to repeat. It was literally a life-draining experience.
the other day a jw relative referred to two otherwise anonymous women in the back seat of a car as "two sisters", as in 2 female jws.
neither of us knows them, and they were peripherals to the main story, but the use of the word "sisters" as opposed to women implied certain superiority, as if what happened matters more because the two women were jws.
the psychological oddities of the jws become more apparent with each passing day.
That is the truth, Sammieswife.
Tetra, I know what you mean about editing our stories to make the JWs more comfortable. The relative I mentioned is actually my mother, who is also the only JW I have any contact with, save my father and siblings now and then. She's cool and all, but I don't mention the holidays or voting or that sort of thing. It just keeps things breezier.

This month marks three years out for me, and it's still satisfying to keep track of the mileage.
anybody here attend the deep river, ct or nearby congregations in the 1980s/90s?
The elder that was banging the married sister was one of the "gifts in men" that DF'd me at 16 for a similar offense. What a guy.
Man, what I wouldn't give to be at those service meetings. Were things really that heated? This is the first I've heard of this.

Vickstrom was the P.O. of Deep River throughout my entire sentence. I do remember his son moved here from East Haven/Branford in the mid 80s. He's still an elder there as far as I know. By the way, Deep River sold their KH to the local fire/ambulance dept. and then donated most or all of the money to the society. As of 2 years ago, they were still shacking up with Westbrook. Amazing that to get their own hall again, they'll probably borrow their own money back from the Society, with interest.

Neon Madman-- There's a reason some called the place "Dead River".
Trocul-- Care to drop any names?

real help!
please no criticism and such that people seem to spew!.
i have not been to a bookstudy in a year or been door to door either.. been using travel and health of my wife and family (actually very true) but they're relentless!!!.
It seems to me, from my limited perspective, that as long as the elders hear excuses, they will continue to think there is a glimmer of hope, that you still want to be active and just need encouragement. I simply stopped attending, and when the calls came around, I just told them I did not feel like going anymore, plain and simple. I then reassured them everything was fine, not expressing even the slightest doubt in the doctrine. At this point, I put up a stone wall, literally not speaking to anyone in the org about anything religious. Worked for me, and it's been 3 years now without a peep from them.
Matt
we seldom get snow in this part of the country until january or february.. but, it is snowing today and the forecasters say we will have it like this for a few days too.
also odd for here.
usually it will snow and the next day, it rains and it's all gone again.. so pretty!!!
We're here in the southern Puget Sound area and woke up to a dusting on the ground. We're new here, so all I know is that this is well below the average temperature for this time.
